Company Background:
Accudyne Systems, Inc. specializes in process and equipment
design and deployment associated with composite material
part fabrication, material separation via supercritical
fluids and liquefied gases, and factory automation applications.
Our customers cover a wide spectrum ranging from small,
innovative start-ups, to venerable Fortune 500 companies.
Our mechanical, electrical, chemical, and software engineers
work in teams using a multidisciplinary approach. Together
with our technicians and CAD designers, we develop creative,
high-technology equipment solutions that are then fabricated
and verified in our state-of-the-art facility.
The work environment is open and friendly. Emphasis
is placed on producing a great product in a timely fashion
and not on corporate "trappings". Blue jeans,
fresh ideas, and teamwork prevail over suits, conformity,
and hierarchy.
Position Description:
We are currently looking for a highly
motivated, innovative, hands-on mechanical engineer
who would like to apply his or her skills in a dynamic
development environment. We need a person who can develop,
design and implement unique equipment and thrive in
a growing company.
In developing equipment, this person will work with
an interdisciplinary team to design, create, and integrate
the various electrical, mechanical, chemical, and control
aspects that comprise custom machinery. He or she will
be responsible for various aspects of design and program
management for projects in unique mechanical engineering
applications, such as motion manipulators for composite
material tape and tow deposition, pilot systems for
the recovery of nylon from carpet, and oil extraction
from geologic matter or biomass. Equipment ranges from
relatively simple devices to highly complex systems.
It is important that the individual be able to see and
convey the "big picture" and still be able
to address the "details" that define the larger
view.
Qualifications:
- Broad background in mechanical engineering including
machine design, controls, heat transfer, fluids and
thermodynamics
- Ability and desire to understand and master areas
of technical knowledge outside one's previous experience
base
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions
to complex problems
- Experience in analysis, design and specification
of machinery including solid mechanics analysis, vibrations,
and the full range of machine elements (linkages,
gears, cams, fasteners, bearings, clutches, brakes
and drives)
- Working knowledge of process sensors including
pressure transducers, thermocouples, photoelectric
sensors, proximity sensors and laser metrology.
- Experience in developing written proposals and
delivering clear, entertaining, Powerpoint-type, oral
presentations of technical concepts.
- Working knowledge of at least one CAD design software
package (Accudyne uses Autodesk Inventor)
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communications
and leadership skills

Engineering plus 5-10 years of experience in the field
(Advanced degrees and PE license a plus)
