| Because of our extensive work in composites and related industries, Accudyne Systems, Inc. has developed a variety of web slitting and cutting equipment. For web cutting, we have typically been able to integrate off-the-shelf, guillotine type cutters. However these are limited in width of cut and can be costly for long cuts. Custom cutting devices are our specialty. In our composite tape heads we developed an extremely compact 12-cutter head to provide for individual tow cut and add capability. As the name implies, the head also has individual feed drives for each of 12, one-quarter-inch-wide tows. Individual tows are fed and cut adjacent to each other.
For continuous processes, such as web lines, we have developed several shear-type slitters. In a research program we installed an experimental two-edge, driven slitter that allows on-line adjustment of all critical cutting parameters. This permitted successful cutting of tough composite lamina while maximizing blade life. In a machine requiring minimum footprint we developed a highly successful web-driven slitter that permits on-line width adjustment. Regardless of the application, we have the proven experience in the slitting of tough materials.
Reduction of trim volume is related to slitting. For high stiffness materials, the trim scrap can be difficult to handle and require considerable operator attention. Affectionately know as "Lawnmower Man," our scrap reduction unit simultaneously cuts multiple continuous scrap streams into short pieces. This significantly reduces volume and eliminates the need for regular operator attention.
From tough composites to red tape, we provide cutting solutions.
