| Accudyne Systems, Inc. regularly uses sensors for monitoring and control in our machines. The sensor may be as simple as a proximity switch or as complex as a thickness gauging system.
Our fundamental use of sensors is for feedback to a machine's control system. Our use of such sensors include, but are not limited to end-of-travel switches on slides and cylinders; inductive proximity sensors; photoelectric sensors; fiber optic sensors; ultrasonic sensors; and pressure, flow, and vacuum switches. These sensors enhance our ability to control a machine. Every motion can be verified and process loop completion confirmed.
Accudyne's more involved use of sensors includes thickness metrology. These systems consist of either a high-accuracy inductive gauging sensor or a combination of this sensor and a high-speed laser scan micrometer. Such a system was used in silicone rubber calendaring to measure material thickness to within a half-thousandth of an inch. A similar system was used in polymer web gauging to control material thickness to within a thousandth of an inch.
