Situation:

Modern biological laboratories use 96 well and greater pipette trays to hold and mix a variety of fluids for statistical testing.

Problem:

This testing procedure requires great precision and is labor intensive.

Implication:

High cost to perform this process manually.

Solution:

Accudyne Systems developed a 96 well pipette head that was capable of accurately extracting and dispensing microliter volumes from all 96 wells simultaneously. This head was then mounted on a machine to move the head with respect to 9 pipette plates and a variety of other devices. This combination allows for automated testing, liquid mixing and transfer, pipette tip loading and unloading, tray transfer, and tip cleaning. Both 96 tip and 384 tip heads have been produced with excellent tip-to-tip repeatability. Three different transfer platforms have been developed to address particular customer requirements. For one customer, a cart and elevator systems was developed to allow for bulk handling of up to 180 pipette plates.

The GenServer increases the effectiveness of the GenMate by reducing unit downtime. Available in single and double cart units; each cart accommodates 20 trays of 9 assay plates each.
